Gosh, now there's a real mixed kettle of fish.
When their good their Good and when their bad their Bad, and when they're neither good nor bad they've sacked the vocalist.
I can never really pinpoint whether i like this band or not, and if i do by how much. I tend to get bored of their stuff rather quickly then slowly start liking certain songs again.

They are one of my favourites, I saw them live in Glasgow and it was awesome, the atmosphere unbeleivable. I think it will be interesting to see where they go with their new singer. Although I think it is a mistake to write the new album without an input from the new singer, sounds too much like a hired gun.

Yes. i think they can start writing when they have a new vocalist. because you need to write lyrics by the voice of someone.

According to reports Nightwish have already written a number of songs for their new album before choosing their new singer, I think this is a big mistake. The way it is presented on the web, is that the new singer will be presented with a complete set of songs already written and possibly recorded, with only the vocals to do. I think that this is not a good way to introduce a new member to the band, also as Tarja has frequently been accused of not contributing, it doesn't make the band look too good either.

well, it was usefull that tarja didn't wrote the songs, because it would be harder to kick her out.

If Tarja had been involved in the writing I think things would be very different. Ok change of subject, does anyone have End Of An Era, what are your thoughts on this. Personally I think that it captures the energy of the band well, I think that this is emphasised by the way that the DVD is edited. I don't like the visual patterned effects in two of the songs though, reminds me of those awful phsycadelic effects you got back in the seventies. Another personal annoyance for me is that although widescreen it's not anomorphic, so my LCD tv doesn't adjust automatically, not a big thing, but annoying all the same. Also the navigation is a pain. Lot of good songs, Ghost Love Score is awesome as always. Over The Hills and Far Away is great, I remember Gary Moore performing this live.

It kinda seems flawed, IMO, to have a dvd which represents the band when in the background it had already fallen apart and the only thing left to do was go public with how everyone felt. Seems like a DVD merely to document a facade. But then i haven't seen it so i don't know.
They probably should be putting more effort into getting the singer before the albums written, the vocals will probably sound distance from the band at first but hopefully by the time they've toured She will get in with the band and be more involved. If they're really lucky they get someone who will demand to be fully at ease with the whole set up before she records and gets them all to personally help her understand what they had in mind for the vocals when they wrote the songs so that she becomes part of the band that way before then adding her own little twist.
